Consciousness is a topic that is widely researched. In fact, your textbook cannot hope to cover all of the information on this topic. Your task is to supplement the information in the textbook on one of the following topics:

You may work in a group of up to 4 people to create an interesting, interactive presentation.

Follow these steps:

  1. Begin first by selecting one of the topics above. No more than two groups can work on any one topic. See me to sign up.
  2. Brainstorm with your group to create a list of questions you would like to answer in your research. Skim through your textbook for ideas. You should have at least ten questions. You will be asked to show these questions to me before you begin researching. In addition, include the following:

  • An introduction of your topic.
  • History of research in this area
  • New scientific theories in this area
  • Studies that have been conducted in this area
  • How psychology is helping people with research in this field.
  • Visuals
3. Research in the following locations: Ebsco, the Internet, books in the library, reference materials in the library and your textbook.
4. Take good notes. I will ask you to hand these in.
5. You may want to consider conducting an experiment. Consider using a survey or interviews for example.
6. Decide how you will present. Remember to keep it interesting and interactive. Some ideas are: create a movie, make a slideshow, do a skit, make a quiz show, hold a press conference, conduct an experiment in class, or run a short discussion as part of your presentation. Presentations should be about 10 minutes in length. Remember, if you are interested in your topic your audience will be too!
7. Don’t forget to include a bibliography. Taking information without citing it is plagiarism.
8. Practice! Go over your presentation with your group. Create note cards in point form so you are not reading directly from slides etc… Decide speaking order
