AUTISM AND THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME ESSAY ASSIGNMENT


I. PURPOSE:
To research information about autism, and be able to relate the research to the novel you read in class and the movie you watched in class.
In this paper you will demonstrate your ability to communicate information, respond to literature, and make connections to various types of text.

PART II: Research:
1. What aspect of autism do you intend to investigate? (use this for your introduction)

2. List everything you already know about your topic. What do you predict you’ll find out about this topic? (use this for your introduction)

3. Find 3 different online sources. Print your sources. On the bottom of your print out include the web address, date it was printed, author, and the year the site was updated/published

4. Read each source and take notes on your topic. Highlight important information.

PART II: Writing the Paper
Your paper should be about two pages typed, in 12 size font. You will tell what you have learned about your topic, and then make connections to the literature from class. All of the information must be in your own words.

Format for the paper:
1. Introductory paragraph should include the following:
- Topic you’ve chosen and why
- What you already know about your topic
- What you predict you’ll find out about your topic

2. Body of paper (one paragraph for each source; 4 body paragraphs in total)
- For each source, give the website address and title of site in the paper. Tell in your own words (first person point of view) what you learned about your topic.
